About the artist:
Dipalee Daroz began her professional journey at the ceramic studio of Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal, and later taught at the Delhi Blue Pottery Studio between 1993 and 1997. Over the years, she has participated in several significant group exhibitions, including Breaking Ground—the First Indian Ceramics Triennale, Jaipur; Mutable at the Piramal Museum of Art, Mumbai; Luminous and Transition/Tradition at Gallery Nvya, New Delhi; and Digging Time at Gallery Art Positive, Delhi. Her accolades include the National Scholarship for Ceramics and the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, as well as the Charles Wallace India Trust Award in 2002. She also received a Crafts Museum grant to research traditional black pottery from Azamgarh.
In 2008, she was a resident artist at Jingdezhen, China. Her recent engagements include leading workshops at the first Arthshila International Artists’ Symposium (2018) and the first Arthshila Ceramic Symposium (2020) in Siwan, Bihar. Alongside her studio practice, Dipalee has taught extensively and contributed to several documentaries on traditional Indian pottery.
