About the artist:
Sandeep Jigdung was born in 1978 in Assam. A well-known contemporary Indian artist, Sandeep did his BFA and MFA in Painting from College of Art, New Delhi. His works predominantly reflect the experiences of his birthplace. His deep connection with the natural surroundings, childhood nostalgia, and memories add up to infuse life into his canvas. The vivid and dominating greens in his canvas can almost be considered as a tribute to his vision and impression of the North-East. His towering bamboo grooves which seem to dwarf all and sundry in his works are definitive markers of his experience as a young boy growing amongst the verdant landscape of Shillong. Sandeep’s art has the capability to arrest a person’s undivided attention to it as it takes you closer and deeper to the vibrant world of what a tropical forest looked like. Sandeep has done several solo and group exhibitions.
