ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Voices of the Continuum

Gallery Nvya has been instrumental in the promotion and sustained visibility of Indian artists within the contemporary art landscape. With a clear commitment to nurturing artistic practices rooted in India, the gallery provides a vital platform for artists to develop, exhibit, and critically position their work. By working closely with artists over long periods, Gallery Nvya supports thoughtful, process-driven practices rather than short-term trends, enabling artists to evolve both conceptually and materially.

The gallery has played a key role in advocating for mediums such as ceramics, installation, and material-based practices, bringing them into mainstream contemporary art conversations within a larger art discourse. Through solo and group exhibitions, curated projects, and thematic shows, Gallery Nvya highlights diverse artistic voices while fostering dialogue around cultural memory, identity, and contemporary social realities. Nvya has consistently showcased artists who engage with Indian cultural histories, traditional knowledge systems, and contemporary concerns, creating a meaningful dialogue between past and present.

Gallery Nvya has helped shape a more inclusive and nuanced Indian art ecosystem. Its programming has supported both established and emerging artists, offering them a platform to experiment, innovate, and reach wider audiences. The gallery has also contributed to the international visibility of Indian contemporary art by facilitating exchanges and exhibitions that connect Indian artists with global contexts. Its commitment to materiality, scholarship, and curatorial rigor has made it an important contributor to the evolving narrative of Indian contemporary art.

Beyond exhibitions, Gallery Nvya actively promotes Indian artists through initiatives that have helped place Indian artists in global contexts, expanding their reach to collectors, curators, and museums worldwide. By combining curatorial rigor with artist-centric representation, Gallery Nvya continues to strengthen the presence of Indian artists and contribute meaningfully to the growth and recognition of Indian contemporary art.

Ceramics Works

Gallery Nvya has consistently supported the growth of contemporary ceramic art since its inception. From the inclusion of ceramics in their annual exhibitions in their galleries; the first solo booth at IAF 2023 of senior artist PR Daroz; the support at the 2nd Indian Ceramics Triennale, to the most recent Emerging Artist award, Nvya has nurtured and guided the artistic development- both functional, sculptural and installation- of most of the well established names in the field today.

At IAF 2026, Nvya once again brings a spotlight on ceramic art for both mid-career, senior and young voices. These include the winner of the 2025 Emerging artist award- Suvajit Mondal of Delhi- who thoughtfully explores urban and rural mapping of landscape and script with raku ceramics; Jitin Jeyakumar of Baroda’s exploration of labour, tools and human expression in terracotta: Ela Mukherjee of Delhi sensitive portrayal of memoirs in clay titled When The Page Is Turned; Dipalee Daroz of Gurugram exhibits a new series of Cubic Expressions by juxtaposing traditional and machine made forms raising critical questions about identity, progress and the balance between the past and future; Nehmat Mongia of Delhi uses a combination of ceramics and glass to create fantastical whimsical creatures.
