About the artist:
Gurmeet Marwah was born in 1984 in Delhi. He completed his MFA in printmaking and BFA in painting from the College of Art, New Delhi. He works in different mediums like charcoal, acrylic, oil, watercolour, lithograph, etching, linocut, and his personal favourite – woodcut. The use of colour, especially red, makes the central idea of the art works even more salient. His work is based on narratives at two levels – the personal and the societal. The images are sarcastic expressions that have their origin in deeply felt emotions. He has done various group shows in Mumbai, New Delhi. He has been awarded by the Prafulla Dhanukar Art Foundation in Graphics and Sahitya Kala Parishad in Graphics in 2015 along with several other awards. His artworks were also selected at Shenzhen Watercolour Biennial, China and Bombay Art society. He was offered National Research Scholarship by Lalit Kala Academy in the year 2012-13. He has also participated in the National Art Camp 2016 at Rann Utsav. His works are in the collection of Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, College Of Art, Delhi.
