ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Educated in Sweden and the Philippines, nationally carrying her identity as Indian – Vinita Karim’s (b.1962) nomadic temperament directs her towards a plangency of hues, and variations in texture. She works in a variety of media including painting, employing the use of embroidery as well as appropriating found objects, liberating them from their older ties.
Karim has been widely exhibited throughout the world, including her solo shows in Kaiserhaus and Galerie Coverma in Switzerland; Bengal Art Lounge, La Galerie and Drik Gallery in Bangladesh; Mashrabia Gallery, Khan al Magrabi and Sheba Gallery in Egypt. She has had numerous group shows including presentations at the India Art Fair put forth by Gallerie Nvyā, New Delhi; 17th Asian Art Biennale by Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka; and Art Revolution at the World Trade Center, Taipei, Taiwan.
The Woven Image is her 25th solo show taking place at Triveni Kala Sangam. Karim currently resides between the cities of Dhaka and New Delhi.
