Mehul Rathod

Mehul Rathod was born in Ahmedabad. He completed his diploma in painting from C.N College Of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad and Post Diploma in Print Making from M. S. University, Baroda in 2011. . He uses materials ranging from leather to fabric. Each work that he produces takes countless hours to ideate, plan and create due to the complex balance of colours and the intricate handwork involved. Mehul’s work is full of imagination, fantasy and depicts the portraits with his reworking of Van Gogh, Magritte and Picasso among other canonical greats. He says “I choose the artists who have achieved respect all over the world by their work. I represent the artists who were not necessarily beautiful in a conventional sense but displayed a charm in their personality and work which often attracted a large number of people.” The unique style of Mehul has given his works a distinct tangibility and depth that enchant the viewer from every angle. He participated in many solo and group shows and also awarded by Gujarat State with the Lalit Kala Akademi Award in 2014.
