Himani Gupta was born in1985 in Himachal Pradesh, India. After an undergraduate degree in Business Studies, she trained in Fine Arts and Spatial Design at Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London. She also holds a M. Sc. in Real Estate and Planning from University College London. Himani's work studies ‘Psychogeography’ which is the impact of the built environment on human emotions and identity. She explores how land, spaces and cities evolve both structurally and organically. She is particularly drawn towards elements from architecture and cities. Cities, land and their components feature heavily in her work, as she believes they catalyse movements, politics and human collaborations. Himani’s Visual Arts practice is informed by the exploration of the outdoors, land and geography; travelling through diverse cityscapes, and urban research. Artist combines aerial views of spaces, maps and 2D forms representing the built environment and expresses this through painting, drawing and mixed media. Himani Gupta has held several shows.
