Dhruva Mistry, was born in Kanjari, Gujrat in 1957. A much celebrated sculptor, Mistry studied at the M.S University of Baroda and then went to Royal College of Art in London on a British Council Scholarship. Dhruva has worked across scale - his sculptures range from small domestic pieces to large public works. He is greatly interested in the cultural history of civilizations and drawing on ancient and modern ones. He has experimented with a variety of materials across genres, in a bid to explore ‘cultural tensions’. His sculptures appeals to the beauty of the form and also reflect individual interest and curiosity. Since 1976, Dhruva has had several solo and group shows in India and abroad.
